This free publication, [detail], offers insights into artistic and curatorial aims of the photography-focused exhibitions and events held between April and December 2025 in the lower half of Te Ika-a-Māui, the North Island. It supports Focus on Photography which is an initiative born of particular circumstances and made possible by significant institutional partnerships.

Conversations between the National Library, City Gallery Wellington and the Adam Art Gallery built on this collaborative energy, and soon the idea of this publication gained support.

Focus on Photography is the result of working together to generate excitement about photography, to draw attention to the amazing photography collections in Aotearoa, and to the work of contemporary practitioners of this art form.
